UPDATE – Dreams Come True for Kitten Whose Ears Were Burned Off Months Ago!

MARYLAND – A stray kitten whose ears had been burned off two months ago has a new home, according to BARCS Animal Shelter in Baltimore.

Duckie– whom BARCS volunteers believe was indeed hurt intentionally, as there were minimal injuries on the rest of her body– went home with her new mom on Monday.

“A big thank you to all who donated to Duckie’s care,” BARCS commented in a Facebook post. “The outpouring of love and support allowed us to not only cover her medical costs, but also the costs of so many more dogs and cat at BARCS. You made this day possible.”

Duckie was found basically lifeless in August on a window sill. The pads on her feet were also burned, her ears were freshly burned from the tips down and her whiskers were singed.

INTROVERTED AND SENSITIVE
It’s the nature of cats that they are not friends with everybody, and the same trait can be seen in their owners too. Usually, they live alone and are happy with their independent lifestyle. Outrage At Driver Who Straps Cat in a Cage to Back of Car and Drives 60-mph oh Freeway!

WASHINGTON DC – A truly shocking video appears to show the moment a driver transported a cat strapped in a cage to the back of his car along the motorway –

Jessica Wright, a veterinary technician traveling behind the vehicle, managed to record the incident on her phone.

The picture seems to show the cat sitting in a humane animal trap, which had been strapped to the boot of the car.

Jessica claimed the vehicle was traveling at approximately 60mph on the Beltway in Washington DC on Saturday, and admits she was extremely concerned for the cat’s welfare .

Speaking to WUSA0, Jessica stated: “I was really upset about it. I just can’t imagine in what world you wouldn’t think that, that wouldn’t be incredibly humane, but also socially unacceptable.”

Jessica was so completely outraged by what she saw that she decided to follow the driver.

However, when he eventually stopped, all he said to Jessica was that the cat was wild.

Sgt Kim England, who is a Fairfax County Animal Protection Officer said: “I’ve been doing this for 10-years and I have never seen that with a cat. It’s really frustrating and disheartening.”

However, she admitted that while the act was not preferable, it wasn’t necessarily illegal.

Lost Cat Swam a Mile Out to Sea Being Attacked by Seagulls – And Then …

TURKEY – A lost cat was spotted as it was swimming a mile off shore by rubbish collectors scooping waste out at sea.

The environmental workers were shocked to see the cat paddling away from them.

The cat looked exhausted after its long swim and the workers could see seagulls trying to attack it.

And so, they launched a daring rescue bid with one of them hanging overboard with a large net to try and scoop up the wet cat but the scared animal kept evading capture.

Eventually, they decided to change their tactics and instead started up a conveyor belt which they use for removing solid waste from the surface of the water.

They then directed their boat at the swimming cat and the cat suddenly leaped up and into the boat.

They later dropped the cat off at a port in the Ayvansaray district of Istanbul, Turkey, where it was declared to be in remarkably good health following its ordeal.

The crew of the boat explained that they had no idea how the cat came to be so far out to sea and said that they had never seen anything like it before.

The boat is owned by the Istanbul Environmental Management Industry and Trade Inc which is contracted by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality to help keep the sea clean in the Golden Horn.

Woman Only Days Left To Live, Leaves Note To Her Cat’s Future Owner!

MARYLAND – Usually, it is quite difficult for humans to face death – especially when they know that they have such a little amount of time left on this Earth to live.

We would guess that most of these people try to spend these days doing the good things or enjoying what they like most.

This time, a woman in Maryland, who knew that her living time is coming to an end, decided to write a letter for the future owner of her cat, whose name is Susie.

In the letter, she expressed the love that she had for her cat from the beginning. After the woman passed, her son came into a shelter with the cat.

Since he wouldn’t be able to take care of Susie because of rental restrictions at the building where he was living, he decided to take this cat to this shelter bringing along the note that was written by his late mother.

This woman described in beautiful words just how much she enjoyed the companion of her cat, Susie. You can read the two-page letter that she wrote for Susie below, but try not to cry!

WATCH – Cat Stuck on Colorado Water Tower Has Quite a Bit of Explaining to Do!

COLORADO – A cat that had been stuck on a water tower in Weld County, Colorado, for four days or more is at the center of a difficult and tricky rescue operation on Wednesday.

Just on Tuesday, K99 News reported that the LaSalle Fire Department apparently didn’t bring a ladder long enough to reach the cat and that they were looking for someone who has the proper equipment to get to the cat.

Denver 7 News, who also reported the story, explained that the first sighting of the feline came on Sunday afternoon.

“We normally give them two or three days to come down by themselves,” LaSalle Police chief Carl Harvey explained to the station. “This cat has tried at least twice to come down, but didn’t make it.”

Since it had been stuck there for quite awhile, officials are said to be quite worried about the cat’s health. Harvey told Denver 7 that two groups offered to rescue the cat for a whopping $2,800 to $4,600 price tag.

“That’s not an option,” Harvey stated.

The station reports that a technical rescue team from Fort Collins ended up agreeing to lend a hand on Wednesday.

“We are still working on solving this issue as we speak,” Bear Hulsey, operations manager for the LaSalle Fire Department, said to PEOPLE in an email Wednesday morning.

Disgusting Video Shows Man Pretending to Pet Cat Before Kicking It, Police Refuse to …

MONTENEGRO – A shocking video shows a coward kicking a cat so hard that it was launched off the ground.

The footage, which is believed to have been filmed in Montenegro, shows the man putting his hand out, as if he was about to play with the cat.

However, as the cat moves closer to him, he suddenly kicks it with his foot and sends it flying into the air.

Afterwards, the man can be heard laughing at the end of the clip, along with the person filming the video.

No one knows what happened to the cat following the disturbing incident.

The video has provoked outrage all over social media, with some commenting that the man should be arrested.

Dragomir Vlahovic, who is from animal welfare group Friend of the Animal, said the incident had been reported to police in Podgorica, Montenegro’s capital.

However, he went on to explain that detectives were unable to file a report as it is not clear exactly where it happened.

He stated: ‘I am the one who has to investigate the details and bring them the solved case. The man can be clearly seen in the video.’

He then added: ‘The person who is capable of doing this can very easily do the same to a human being.’

Many animal lovers took to social media to express their outrage.

One person, who posted under the name, ‘Raziel’ commented: ‘You idiot! You should be in jail for three months and there you deserve to be kicked the same as the poor cat.’

Another viewer, called ‘Dragana’, added: ‘I can’t believe they are laughing! They should be arrested.’

Kitten Rejected By Mom Due To Her Tiny Size, Is Accepted by Benny – an Experienced, Loving Cat “Dad’!

A tiny kitten who was born just half the size of a normal kitten was rejected by her mother.

This is the story of Winifred!

Winifred has a brother who was also rejected by mom because of his tiny size. Perhaps she didn’t believe that they would survive, so she decided to nurse only her stronger babies.

A kind woman by the name of Ellen Carrozza took care of the kittens. She works with complicated cases such as these and actually has an incubator.

And so, she fed the babies with a tube instead of a standard bottle because they were so small. When Winifred was two weeks old she was still the size of a newborn.

Her brother, sadly, didn’t survive.

“He passed two days later suddenly in his sleep, which is common for kittens of this size,” Ellen explained.

At 19 days old, Winifred was the size of a kitten who was about one-week old.

“She is starting to interact more, be affectionate, purrs, and can see and hear fully now!”

She was treated like glass and that’s around the time Benny, who is a rescue himself, stepped in to give Winifred the kitty love she so needed and up to now, was denied.

Being a good cat dad was something that wasn’t new for Benny. Over time, he has taken several mommy-less kittens under his wing!

What a hero!

“She will let him groom her, sleeps with him and shares meals each time. Benny will also sleep next to the incubator at night either on his cat tree that is next to it or on my head since the incubator is on my nightstand. He is always the first to alert me if the kittens are up,” Ellen noted.

At just about 43 days now, this little micro kitty weighs just 11 ounces, “which is still tiny in stature but structure wise she is normal and acts normal for her age.”

Winifred loves cuddling with the other foster babies and she is getting bigger and stronger each and every day.

Every milestone is celebrated!

“We take every day as a blessing,” Ellen concluded.

We here at The Best Cat Page wish Winifred and Benny the best!

Meet Duke Who Is Working Miracles to Help Patients Recover in ICU Unit!

CALIFORNIA – Amid all the pumps and IV machines, ventilators, and monitors at in the intensive care unit at UCSF Medical Center, a “purrfectly” trained professional is currently making the rounds: a 7-year-old tuxedo cat.

His full name is Duke Ellington Morris!

“When he first mentioned it, I was, like, ‘Is it a dog?’ Nope – a kitty!” giggled patient Susan Wuann.

“Oh, this cat’s phenomenal!”, shouted patient Marcy Harrison.

“It’s pretty exciting to meet him and see a cat in the hospital.” stated nurse David Goldberger.

For both the patients and staff alike, Duke is one cool cat.

“I was skeptical of the idea until I met Duke and was, like, this works for us,” stated Steven Koster, who facilitates the animal-assisted therapy program at UCSF with the San Francisco SPCA.

All the pets who are participating in the program are vetted and healthy.

“The staff who has been involved with the animal assisted therapy program are very careful to make sure the animals are very safe to be in the ICU,” explained UCSF Adult Critical Care Director Dr. Matt Aldrich

The goal is to facilitate the healing process, promote wellbeing, and share a little love.

Studies show pet therapy can reduce blood pressure, pain, stress, anxiety, and even depression.

And Duke is a very mellow cat.

“When you have this animal that comes in here like Duke … you can pet him, you can stroke him. He gives you a sense of being connected as a human again. So it’s really a wonderful thing,” said patient Andre Ross.

These days, Duke – a rescue cat – pretty much rules this ICU and his owners are happy to share him. “I think he rescued us. there’s no doubt in my mind,” stated owner Jennifer Morris. “He’s just a sweetheart.”

“It really does make you feel good,” Harrison went on to add.

“This is the cream on the top,” said Wuan.

And as for Duke, well. he just lapped it up!

Photographer Documents The Secret Lives Of Cats That Live in Hong Kong’s Stores (12+ Pics)

When Dutch photographer Marcel Heijnen first moved to Hong Kong, he noticed something very interesting about the traditional shops that are there – most of them have their own kitties living inside!

So fascinated with this culture of shop cats, Heijnen simply couldn’t resist photographing the feline fellows. He even went on to create an Instagram account featuring the Chinese kitties and uploads new photos of them regularly. Shop cats, market cats, alley cats – he’s been capturing them all!

You can find his photos on Instagram and even in his new book which will be launching at Blue Lotus Gallery in December together with his pop-up exhibition.

Two Cats Who Aren’t Able to Walk Still Find Ways To “Run” And Play Together

While overcoming ailments and disabilities is a major accomplishment for any person, the same goes for animals.

They, too, often have to learn to live with debilitating injuries they were born with or those they received through abuse.

Meet Paddywhack and Mohawk, who are two disabled cats who were found in a cardboard box on the side of the road. Not only were they abandoned and left to ‘make their own way’, but they both had the inability to use their hind legs.

Mohawk and Paddywhack were found together. They had been abandoned in a cardboard box. Neither of them had any mobility at all in their hind legs. Their rescuers assumed their paralysis was caused by years of abuse!

Worried, the rescuers took them over to Toronto Cat Rescue, which is an emergency clinic. After a series of X-rays were performed, the vets learned that the cats hadn’t suffered injuries, but were instead born with paralyzed hind legs.

Heather Brown, who is executive director of Toronto Cat Rescue, brought them home and quickly realized that their injuries didn’t prohibit them from getting around and playing!

Heather firmly believes that the previous owner may have given up on them because of their disability.

We sincerely hope that Mohawk and Paddywhack find a home soon

They truly have been through so much and they deserve to be loved.

Abandoned Tiny Kitten Found In Field – Check Out the ‘Then and Now’ Pics!

Joan Bowell discovered Chili the kitten on a field, near the place she lives in on a little Greek Island, where she also fosters various other cats she has rescued over the years.

One night she was out feeding her cats when she heard some meowing, which eventually led to finding Chili. Chili looked horrible, with his eyes almost glued shut from a bad infection.

Joan quickly tried to clean his eyes and provide a bit medical care. She also fed Chili some kitty formula, since it looked like he hadn’t eaten in several days.
“Within 14 hours his eyes have gone from being shut closed as if glued and now to both eyes being open,” states Joan.

Chili made a very slow but sure recovery, getting plenty of love from his new cat siblings. And they always seem to be able to cheer him up!

“I think he had already entered into the ‘twilight zone’ when I found him but he’s got an amazing fighter spirit and has already made an incredible recovery!”

Kitten Found Hanging On To Life By A Thread – Defied the Odds!

A couple found a surprise at the doorstep of their apartment.

“It was back in December 2014 in Belarus. When we were back home at the apartment, we found a tiny kitten in a box,” the soon-to-be cat-mom explained Love Meow.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BAohwYVMjLj/

The tuxedo kitten’s eyes weren’t yet open, and he wasn’t able to eat or drink.

They were told he wouldn’t make it, but they decided to hang on and they named him Pusic.

“On day 7, a miracle happened. The kitty started to eat and recover,” his humans said to Love Meow.

“I saw a new world through his eyes. He is so happy to be living in a home,” they said in the story.

What just a little bit of love and patience can do sometimes is really amazing, isn’t it?

Police Officer in Hot Seat for Removing Frightened Kitten from Drug Abuser’s Home!

CANADA – A Toronto-area police officer who allegedly removed a kitten from the home of a drug user is now set to face a misconduct charge at a police hearing next week.

Durham Regional Police Const. Beth Richardson, who is a 17-year police veteran, has been charged with discreditable conduct under the Police Services Act, in connection with the incident, which occurred on Jan. 12.

According to a hearing notice obtained by CTV News, Richardson removed the kitten after being dispatched to an Oshawa, Ont. rooming house to check on the overall “well-being of a female who had been using drugs for several days.”

The notice states that Richardson noticed the kitten “cowering under a table” while in the drug user’s home.

In an interview with CTV Toronto Friday, Richardson’ lawyer Joseph Markson explained the kitten was “looking just ragged,” when his client came upon the pet.

“Really thin, very small, smelled like smoke, running eyes, and scared out of its wits.”

Markson went on to say that there was “no one around” the kitten in a position to take care of it.

According to the notice, Richardson removed the kitten without the owner’s prior consent or knowledge.

Richardson allegedly took the kitten to a veterinarian for a checkup where it was indeed “medically cleared.”

It is alleged that Richardson removed the kitten without advising any of her supervisors, and failed to document her “actions.”

Following the removal, the kitten’s owners called into the Durham police and “demanded the return of their kitten,” alleging “the theft of kitten was caught on tape.”

Afterward, the kitten was returned to its owner the same day, and Richardson has not been criminally charged.

Read these characteristics which almost all cat lovers have in common:

INTROVERTED AND SENSITIVE
It’s the nature of cats that they are not friends with everybody, and the same trait can be seen in their owners too. Usually, they live alone and are happy with their independent lifestyle. They are introverts but are comfortable hanging around with other people. However, they would need some me-time to relax and recharge.

CAT LOVERS LEAN TO LEFT
It has been observed that people with liberal political leanings prefer cats over dogs. You might be a liberal dog lover or a conservative cat owner; if you’re a liberal, you love cats and vice versa.

CAT OWNERS ARE OPEN-MINDED
Five traits – conscientiousness, neuroticism, extraversion, agreeableness, and openness are often seen in most cat lovers. As compared to dog owners, people who have cats as pets are more open and therefore, have greater artistic creativity.

ATTENTION SEEKERS
Just like their pets, cat lovers seek attention from people around them. They like to be the centre of all conversations. At times, cat owners rely on their pets for emotional support.

THEY RESPECT CATS MORE THAN ANYONE
Cat people respect cats more than humans, in general. The saddest sight for a cat lover is to see the animal on the streets without a home. Cat lovers are often seen making a special effort to rescue or rehabilitate homeless cats.

Tiny, Mistreated Kitty Lost The Use Of Her Legs But Never Lost Her Will to Live!

AUSTRALIA – Monkey was just about two weeks old when she lost the use of her hind legs after poor treatment. The kitten had been removed from an extremely violent environment by a woman named Teagan, who took her in.

At the time, Monkey – who perfectly fits in the palm of a hand – was half unconscious. Unfortunately, in this region of Australia, the closest veterinarian was a whopping eight hours away by car. And so, Tegan and her friend Kyleigh did everything they could themselves to save the frail animal. Kyleigh explains,

“With warm baths, hourly feeds, a comfy bed and lots of rest and cuddles, Monkey amazingly began to gain strength”.

Despite the paralysis of her hind legs, the wee one rapidly regained her energy and force. Everyday, she shows her love and gratitude to her rescuers. Tegan went on to say:

“Like a monkey amidst the trees, she surprised everyone who came in her path, with her incredible strength using only her upper body to explore the red earth surrounds”.

Miraculously, her terrible past did not traumatize her in regards to human contact. She is warm and interacts wonderfully with everyone, which is a huge surprise to Kyleigh.

When Monkey reached six weeks old, she brought her to a medical consultation in Alice Springs where she was able to take a special plane to the special shelter, Homeless & Abused Animal Rescue Team (HAART), nearby to Perth.

Upon examining the kitten, the veterinarian could not believe that she survived to this point considering his state.

“Everyone who met her, the dogs included, were fascinated by her ability to be so mobile despite the severe damage to her back legs”.

Just recently, Monkey arrived in Perth where she met her adopted mom, whose name is Lyn. She handles the kitty’s treatments and also her physical therapy sessions. “the improvements in Monkey have been remarkable,” according to Lyn, who is absolutely amazed by her passion for life.

“There is no doubt in everyone’s mind, that Monkey will continue to regain more use of her back legs and she has amazed everyone in her new ability to take off her nappy and toilet herself in the kitty litter”.

While Monkey still has some difficulties because of her past, she is living proof that with lots of love and attention, animals are extremely resilient and can overcome huge obstacles.
