Circus Lions Get Rescued And Step On Grass For The First Time

A second chance ❤️

A circus based in Guatemala was noticed by the Animal Defenders Incorporated (ADI), and they went on to find out about violence that was taking place against the animals during training. Tarzan and Tanya, the two lions, were thankfully rescued by the ADI, and the pair share an extremely strong bond.

They were taken to a shelter and given the time and care needed to help them recover, before they were sent to their forever home.

ADI flew the lions to a sanctuary in South Africa after they had gotten better. They can now live a life free from fear.

The pair of lions have a massive grassland to run and play on, something that they have been deprived of since they were born.

This story gives hope to other animals who are in this position.

Why Drinking Water First Thing After Waking, Has Huge Health Benefits

Dehydration is a condition that occurs when the body doesn’t have enough fluids to function properly. Based on how much of your body’s fluid is lost, dehydration can be mild, moderate, or severe.

Some of the early warning signs of dehydration are skin dryness and joint discomfort. While it may not seem like a big deal, it can lead to serious health complications such as brain fog, type II diabetes, and even colon cancer.

Drinking water the first thing in the morning can have amazing effects for a number of health conditions. Therefore, the early morning water treatment originates from the ancient Ayurvedic medicine, it helps the colon and improves the absorption of nutrients from foods during the day.

Moreover, In the 1970s, Dr. Fereydoon Batmanghelidj, re-discovered this ancient therapy. He found that water can naturally treat numerous conditions like high blood pressure, asthma, arthritis, autoimmune disorders, migraines, and diabetes.

Here is how to drink enough water at the right times:

  • Right after waking up in the morning, drink a glass (8oz) of distilled water. Just make sure you take it on an empty stomach.
  • Do not eat or drink for 45 minutes after drinking the water.
  • Drink a glass of water 30 minutes before meals.
  • Drink again 2 hours after each meal.

Try this treatment for 10 days and feel your health start to improve. It treats gastric issues and constipation in a few days, and in just 30 days it lowers high blood pressure.

Here are extra benefits of drinking water immediately after waking up:

  • It jump-starts up your metabolism, by a whopping 24% for 90 min.
  • You’re dehydrated after 7-8 hours of sleep, drinking a glass of water when waking up helps to boost the oxygen flow. Moreover, it supports the creation of new blood and muscle cells.
  • Water helps your body flush out toxins, allowing for maximum enzyme function and helping to detoxify the liver.
  • This habit will reduce your appetite, as water will fill up the stomach by adding zero calories and you will feel full.
  • As cold and flu season comes around the corner, it’s vital to boost the immune system. Also, the lymphatic system improves, so you easily fight off infections and sickness.

Teen Shocked To Find Long-Lost Cat While Volunteering At Animal Shelter

Three years ago, 15-year-old Hannah Rountree lost her beloved cat. The black and white house cat named Spunky ran away while the family was on vacation. Despite their search efforts, the cat never came back. Spunky left when Hannah was only 12 years old, but the long-lost cat inspired the girl’s love for animals. As she got older, she ended up volunteering at her local animal shelter.

And that’s where this story really gets good.

Hannah showed up for her second volunteer shift at Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center expecting to help out and play with some cute kitties. What she wasn’t expecting was to be reunited with her long-lost Spunky.

Out of all the cats at the shelter, the teen couldn’t help but notice one particular black and white feline. The cat had recently been surrendered and was being kept in the shelter’s catio.

A lot of cats can look the same, but there was something special about this one…
Hannah told a local NBC news affiliate,

With a little investigation, shelter staff determined that the familiar feline was indeed Hannah’s childhood friend. Hannah was thrilled to have her cat back in her arms and amazed at the serendipitous situation that brought them together.

Call it luck, fate, or whatever you want, but this was meant to be.
Wendy Kang, Saving Grace director, said Spunky was first brought to the shelter back in September. He was found as a stray and renamed Bear. It didn’t take long for the cute cat to be adopted, but that match didn’t stick. The adopters were looking for a mouser, and sweet-natured Spunky wasn’t interested.

Spunky’s refusal to hunt ended up being the best thing that could have happened to him. The family returned the reluctant hunter to the shelter just in time for Hannah to find him.

Kang said, “It’s just perfect that she was able to find her pet while helping us.”

Hannah and her family of course welcomed their long-lost cat back home with an abundance of love. They report he has already settled back into his old life, and they’re thrilled to have their family together again. Hannah says that, “He’s very comfortable…I knew he would just perk up and remember.”

When asked what she thought about this amazing reunion with her long-lost cat, Hannah said, “It was just fate, I feel like.”

Restaurant Owner Prepares A Free Meal For Every Stray Dog Who Visits

“They pay us with their happiness and wagging tails” , writes moneysavingbasics.

One evening five years ago, an unexpected customer dropped by Gerardo Ortiz’s restaurant, Ajilalo, in Peru. It was a stray dog, a look of hunger in her eyes.

Ortiz could have easily turned the dog away. But he didn’t.

That evening, Ortiz offered the dog a free meal, made just for her.

And thus began an adorable tradition that continues to this day.

Each evening, from then on, the hungry dog came and received a free meal from Ortiz’s restaurant.

But it didn’t take long for word of Ortiz’s kindness and generosity to spread among the community of local stray pups.

More dogs began to arrive with that first visitor— and Ortiz welcomed them all with a meal.

Nowadays, numerous stray dogs arrive to the doors of Ortiz’s restaurant each night. Many are regular “customers,” while others are first-timers — all hoping to fill their bellies thanks to Ortiz’s kindness.

Often, as Ortiz is working, he’ll look up and see a new dog’s face at the front — waiting politely to see if the rumor that free food can found there is true.

It always is.

“For me, they are the best customers,” Ortiz told The Dodo.

And his human customers hardly take that as a slight. Inspired by Ortiz, they often bring food for the visiting dogs as well.

“Thankfully, our clients have reacted well to the dogs,” Ortiz said. “They are affectionate toward them.”

Ultimately, Ortiz’s sweet routine of feeding all the stray dogs who visit does more than keep them from being hungry. It lets them know that their lives matter — a truth that Ortiz is happy to prove to them each and every day.

“They do not pay us with money, but they pay us with their happiness and wagging tails,” Ortiz said. “They are very grateful, and we enjoy giving more than receiving. Since I was a child, I have loved animals. My mother always taught us to help others, both people and animals. She’s my inspiration.”

Two rescued tigers see water for the first time. The footage is breathtaking

If you thought cats don’t like water, think again. When rescue tigers Carli and Lily get the chance to swim for the first time at the Safe Haven Rescue Zoo, they go right for it.

The giant cats were rescued from a failed facility in New York, and are now being rehabilitated in a new sanctuary located in the remote Nevada desert. The cats new home and pool is an oasis all their own.

The one thing about living in the desert, though, is that the tin pools the sanctuaries usually use to keep the animals cool get way too hot in the sun. “So we’ve helped Save Haven build new inground pools that will keep the water cool and refreshing for the tigers to enjoy,” explained Kelly Donithan, an International Fund For Animal Welfare rescue officer.

The last time Donithan saw the tigers she was rescuing them from their deplorable conditions in a dirty cage and suffering from neglect. Now, in Nevada, she got to see the tigers jump for joy into their new pool.

At first, Lilly goes right up to the pool but hesitates at the water’s edge. Then, the tiger begins curiously splashing it with her paw when a look of amazement comes over her.

Soon Lilly is right in the water, quickly gliding from one side of the pool to the other. It’s at this moment you see her natural water-loving instincts come right to the forefront.

Lilly begins playing around and relaxing at the water’s edge, but then Carli comes along and she tries to show her friend how much fun this whole pool-thing is. Carli isn’t so sure, though, and hangs around the edge for a while.

But, Lilly loves every second of it. Towards the end, you see her just wading in the water, eyes closed and head in the air — soaking up the moment of pure joy.

“It’s going to keep them happy, entertained, comfortable. And just give them a great life”

The dramatic rescue of Lucky the horse

Sometimes horses find themselves in precarious positions, desperately in need of human help. That’s what happened to Lucky, a pack horse, when he lost his footing while crossing a river in Alaska. Lucky was beaten up badly by the river’s rocks, and his legs were so swollen and painful that he couldn’t walk. He was also hours from the nearest clinic, so rescuers needed a way to get him out quickly.
Enter a special sling and a helicopter. Lucky was harnessed up and gently lifted into the air, then transported to a clinic where his injuries could be better assessed and treated. The video below captures the incredible moment when Lucky is flown high above the ground.
Large animal rescue, particularly when working with horses, can be a dangerous and challenging endeavor. Not only are rescuers working with animals which weigh more than 1,000 pounds, but they’re working with horses which are often frightened, in pain, and reactive. A kick from a horse can injure or kill a person, so prioritizing rescuer safety is always important.
According to the Large Animal Rescue Company, experience and training can help to improve the safety of a large animal rescue. A veterinarian on site is often able to sedate a horse to help keep it calm, making the rescue safer for everyone involved. A bit of creativity comes into play, since every situation is unique, and being able to think ahead and envision the “what ifs” is a vital skill for any rescuer.
Sometimes rescuers face situations where a horse is pinned or trapped, making it difficult to move him. Rescuers use a variety of equipment, including slings, lifts, pullies, and more. Just like the sling was adjusted and altered to suit Lucky in this video, it’s important for rescuers to choose the right type of equipment suitable for the situation.
When you think about it, humans are able to pull off some incredible horse rescues. Anyone participating in a horse rescue is taking a risk, but often those risks pay off with the reward of a rescued horse who is returned to safety once again.

Zookeeper shows a previously unseen side of lions

What South African zookeeper Kevin Richardson does may raise a few eyebrows, but he’s on a mission to show another side to the elusive “King of the Jungle.”
In the captivating 2013 video below, Richardson invites the GoPro production crew along for an unforgettable ride. Richardson has formed such a strong connection with the wild lions near Pretoria, South Africa, that he has been accepted as one of their own. This closeness allows Richardson to understand these majestic creatures on a much deeper level than previously thought possible — observing each individual’s behavior, instincts, and emotions as a member of their pride.
Richardson has forged such meaningful bonds with these lions that he even places his arm in one of their mouths without fear of it being bitten off, confident in the trust they share. On his website, Richardson shares his plans for the Kevin Richardson Wildlife Sanctuary, which he hopes will “provide a self-sustaining African carnivore sanctuary for the purposes of wild species preservation through education, awareness and funding, especially pertaining to the rapid decline of large carnivores in Africa due to habitat loss, human-predator conflict, unscrupulous hunting, disease and their illegal trade.”

This Surprising Dog And Duck Friendship Shows That Animals Pick Friends Not By Their Looks

Meet Barclay, the Golden Retriever and his best friend, a four-year-old Pekin duck Rudy, who both have a thing or two to teach you about friendship.

As great animal friendships go, this one had a rather bumpy start, when Barclay discovered just how tasty the stolen duck chow is. Rudy, being the alpha duck of his group, would chase Barclay away from it. But soon, the Retriever became such a frequent visitor in the coop that it was just a matter of time before these adorable animals clicked. As the owner, Pam Ishiguro explained to Daily Mail: “When they are together, somebody is always chasing or jumping on someone else, but when they are apart, they’re always calling for each other.”

By now, these unlikely friends have developed a healthy relationship, where everybody is getting something out of it. For example: “[Barclay] likes to drink their bath water and, if he happens to be stealthy enough, he loves to sniff a little duck butt.” And as for Rudy, he’s become a fan of dog climbing: “Now Rudy has to ‘claim’ Barclay every once in a while by climbing on top of him. Barclay doesn’t seem to mind terribly because that gives him the opportunity to sniff Rudy’s butt – win-win!”

Although not even a cute animal family is without its quirks, this one seems to solve their disputes with cuddling and to play together: “Rudy and Barclay need each other – I think that’s why they have such a strong bond, they’re like brothers from another mother. No one else will play with them, so lucky for them, they found each other and formed this unusual friendship.”

Adorable Baby Cow Who Lost Its Leg Becomes Best Friends With A Giant Tortoise

The pair are inseparable ❤️️

Meet Leonardo, an African spurred tortoise who was rescued back in 2013 from a zoo closing in Bangkok, Thailand.

He went to the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT) Rescue Center, a place that has become home to hundreds of animals in need and a sanctuary for them when they had nowhere else to go.

Leonardo was happy and comfy living life at the sanctuary – but it was about to level up.

Cue Simon, a young cow who was found caught in a tangle of vines when out grazing with his mother.

The WFFT took him in and gave him a prosthetic to help him walk.

Although the rescuers had planned to introduce Simon to the other cows at the sanctuary, Simon had other plans.

“We decided to house him temporarily in a large open field enclosure within the WFFT Rescue Center where he could recover from his ordeal,” WFFT wrote.

“We had then planned to move him into a field where we house two other rescued cows.”

But it was love at first sight when Simon saw Leonardo.

“To the surprise of us all Simon the cow has formed a strong bond with the large tortoise, Leonardo,” WFFT wrote.

“They are often seen following each other around, sharing meals and resting together,” WFFT wrote.

“We hope this unusual friendship continues to flourish.”
