Lay a sheet of parchment paper across 9×5-inch loaf pan and transfer the solution into it. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or till a toothpick comes out clean. Let the bread cool in the pan, and cut it into squares.

Nice Whale Returns Phone Woman Accidentally Dropped Into Sea

A couple of weeks ago, a mysterious visitor appeared in the open waters around Hammerfest, Norway — a beluga whale fitted with a harness.

Little is known for certain about the whale’s origins, but it’s suspected that he was trained by the Russian navy, from which he’d apparently defected. Since then, freed from the harness, he’s continued to linger nearby.

Recently, however, something was discovered about the whale’s personality: He’s actually quite considerate!

The other day, while out and about in Hammerfest, Ina Mansika and her friends decided to head down to the waterfront to see if they could spot the alleged former spy. It was then that something pretty amazing happened.

Not only was the beluga whale there to greet them — he came to the rescue when Mansika had a mishap.

“We laid down on the dock to look at it and hopefully get the chance to pat it,” Mansika told The Dodo. “I had forgotten to close my jacket pocket and my phone fell in the ocean. We assumed it would be gone forever, until the whale dove back down and came back a few moments later with my phone in its mouth!”

Mansika was stunned.

“Everyone was so surprised. We almost didn’t believe what we saw,” she said. “I was super happy and thankful that I got my phone back.”

Unfortunately, water damage had made the phone inoperable by that point, but Mansika was appreciative regardless: “I love animals!” she said. “The whale is so kind.”

It’s unclear if the beluga whale is too accustomed to humans to thrive in the wild on his own, given his apparent training, but officials say they are keeping his best interests at heart. According to the Washington Post, a plan is being considered that would have him relocated to a sanctuary in Iceland — a thoughtful gesture toward one who’s already shown the same.

After nursing it back to health, it chose to stay with him, perching on his shoulder and even sharing food with him.

Humble Bumble is a unique bear. While he is large, most people notice something else about him: his surprising kindness. “… it is a gentleness, an innocence that reminds one of Lennie in Of Mice and Men. It is the expression of his face, in his movements– the whole feeling that he emanates,” that earned him his moniker according to Earthfire Institute.
He was adopted from the Earthfire Institute after a roadside zoo closed down. He was only a few weeks old when he was taken in by the sanctuary.

Two Guys Swam Through Flood Waters To Save Stranded Foxes (Rescue Photos)

Two metres of water didn’t stop a couple of Saskatchewan men from swimming through a field to save some stranded wildlife.

Colin Graham lives near the village of Welwyn, about 250 kilometres east of Regina, which was hit hard with rain on the weekend. Some areas got 100 to 200 millimetres. “All of our crops here are under a lake pretty much,” Graham said.

Since this spring, Graham has been watching a family of foxes on his property. “[They] have been sitting out on this rock pile near our house for all spring,” he said. “My sister wondered what happened to the foxes, so we drove out there and there was just one rock sticking out of the top of the water.” On top of that rock, Graham noticed one young fox stranded on what he estimated was about eight feet of water.

“One guy I was with, Jordan Olson, suggested that we should probably just go out there and swim and get it,” Graham said. While the fox stranded on the rock pile was probably about 75 metres away, Graham and Olson dove in rescue the animal.

“When I first got there, he had a little bit of energy and he bailed off the rock and into the water and tried to swim away,” Graham said. “But I was able to catch up to him.” Graham said the fox was not a lot bigger than a kitten. “We put it in the back of my truck and our house is right close there so we took it home, dried it off, and got it warmed up,” he said.

“Then we were driving later and we saw the mother out there so we took him back.” “They’re reunited,” Graham said, laughing. “I saw them running around the other day.”

Lion dad struggles to take care of cubs while their wounded mum recovers

But no one proves it better than this poor lion dad. A father of five, this majestic lion might be the king of the jungle, but when it comes down to parenting, he looks as helpless as its prey!

In a series of rather hilarious photos, a lion was caught on camera desperately trying to look after his energetic cubs, while their mother is away. Though he really seem to try his best, the male named Singa is far from being as bossy with his little ones as he is with the rest of the pride. The five naughty cubs are giving him a headache.

The scene unfolded at the Pakawi Park Zoo in Belgium, and the lion was forced to the take over the parenting duties, after the cubs mother – JJ – was sent to the zoo’s medical facility for recovery, after she was bitten by another lioness. Even though she only suffered some minor injuries, she has to stay away from their cubs a few days.

Wildlife photographer Linda Smit captured the moment Singa hardly tries to do the mother job, but he’s struggling!

“The mother had to be separated from her cubs for a few weeks to heal. So dad had to take care of them,” the photographer said. “He was trying to lift them, like the mother would do, to carry them to what he probably thought was a safer place. But as a male, he didn’t have the skills or experience to properly lift them.”

After nearly a week, JJ fully recovered and she returned to her cubs who were happier than ever to reunite their mom. But, honestly, I don’t know who was happier, the cubs or their dad?!

Brave 16-year-old girl rescues runaway horse from busy highway

A brave teen is hailed as a hero, after her quick-thinking saved a horse who escaped on a busy highway in Maryland. The 16-year-old girl and her horse were getting ready to compete in a horse exhibition, when spotted the runaway horse. Without a second thought, she stepped up and took the horse to safety. The dramatic rescue was caught on camera!

Caroline Shoults and her rescue horse, Tinkerbell, were at the De Novo Farms, Anne Arundel County, waiting for the riding show to start, when one of the horses run off from the barn straight to the busy road. The young girl immediately realized the escaped horse could be in real danger, so she decided to rescue him. Another girl, 13-year-old Julia Young, who was in the stands caught the moment on her cellphone. The footage was later shared on Facebook by Jeanette Newland.

“At our first horse show, we were in our barn family when we see another horse broke free from her halter and took off,” Jeanette Newland wrote. “A brave 16-year-old getting ready to compete stopped to help try to catch her.”

Caroline and Tinkerbell chased the runaway horse for about three miles along the highway. Meantime, other rides joined their efforts to help with the rescue. They were riding their cars close to the horses, in order to prevent other drivers to get close to them.”

 

 

“Finally, after about 3 miles, everyone rather exhausted, I was able to guide her into the shoulder of the highway into the grass,” Caroline explained on Facebook. “I jumped off and threw the lead rope over her neck, and waited mere seconds for everyone to come up to us, the horse trailer just behind them.

“The one thing that kept me sane was just talking to my horse. I can’t quite say I was scared,” the heroic teen explained to FOX 5. “I think I was just so focused on a positive outcome I didn’t have time to be scared, especially in a situation like that.”

Thankfully, the runaway horse named Ice was safely taken back to the barns, and most important, no one was hurt! Yet, it was quite an experience for everyone involved.

“It was pretty intense with the traffic and could have turned bad in so many ways, but she kept her cool and help keep the horse safe until she tired herself out,” Jeanette Newland told the news outlet. “What an adventure we all had. Just thankful that the horses and the people helping we’re all safe.”

Grease a pan and coat it with oatmeal. Then pour the batter in it, and bake it at 350°F (180°C) for 45 minutes.

While baking it, whip a coconut cream and maple syrup together with beaters on medium, when done, chill the frosting in the fridge.

The cake must be completely cool, so there is no risk of melting the frosting. Now that your cake is no longer hot, frost it or dole out individual portions of frosting per slice. Though many of us, cannot even imagine how it is to live far away from the busy city life we all got used to, there are still so many people who peacefully live their lives off the grid, far deep in the wilderness.

Such an example is Seppo Laamanen, a 65-year-old man who lives alone in his cozy house in the woods of Finland. Although alone, Seppo has never felt lonely, because he always found great friends in the animals that live next to his step door. But above all, there is an otter with whom he shares the greatest bond. Now, not a single day goes by without Seppo being visited by his four-legged friend. A visit the old man can’t wait for, every morning!

It all started a few winters ago. Back in the day, Seppo was surprised to found the tiny animal on his porch, begging for food. It was extremely cold outside, and with the lake nearly entirely frozen, it was almost impossible for the little otter to find something to hunt.
