Friendship is something that should be cherished. It comes in all forms, whether it’s a toddler and his puppy or a group of classmates that have continued to grow closer as the school year progresses. Typically when you find a really good friend, you never want to let them go, and it seems like that’s exactly how a pair of friends that have recently gone viral feel about each other.
A baby and his swim instructor have been capturing hearts all over the world with their absolutely adorable and genuine friendship. They have become the best of friends since the baby first started taking swimming lessons with his instructor. When Tracey Martorana put her baby named Lucas in group swim lessons at Saf-T-Swim in Wantagh, New York, she never could have imagined that people from all around the world would be just as mesmerized by her son’s friendship with his instructor as she is.
Lucas immediately formed a bond with his swim lesson instructor, named Carlson Rogers, after meeting him and has been doing private lessons once a week with him ever since. At 10-months-old, Lucas is still going strong with his lessons and even stronger with his friendship with Rogers.
A few videos of the pair swimming together have been tugging at people’s heartstrings as they continue to go viral on TikTok with their sheer adorableness. It’s clear that Lucas and Rogers have a genuine connection and a heartfelt friendship. Read on to find out more about how these two went on to form such a beautiful friendship.

Their Heartwarming Friendship
Speaking with Good Morning America in October 2021, Martorana talked about how her baby is a “pandemic baby,” meaning he has a small social circle. Along with his immediate family, Lucas has also formed a wonderful friendship with his swim lesson instructor. “Carlson is part of our crew,” Martorana said.
She explained that Rogers is the best instructor for Lucas because he never pushes the baby too hard. If Lucas cries, they take a break. If Lucas splashes around in the water, then Rogers will splash and play with him. “I love watching the relationship,” Martorana said. “Carlson is a big strapping man and Lucas loves to hug him and hold onto him.”
Martorana was so moved by how kind Rogers was with her baby that she shared a few videos of the friends on her TikTok account in September 2021. The videos instantly went viral, accumulating more than 657,000 views together. Her TikTok from Sept. 10, 2021, was captioned: “Some days call for swimming, while others call for snuggling with our swim instructor.” Her second TikTok from the following week highlighted just how amazing Rogers is as a swim instructor, with the caption: “Parents: Get your 9-month-old a swim instructor like this!!”
It’s clear that the world has fallen in love with the set of friends, too, as the comment sections were filled with plenty of positive responses. Many of the comments praised Rogers for being such a great instructor. “Everyone loves Carlson,” Martorana said. “I think it was just something important for people to see. Love knows no bounds.”
