THE MOST ESSENTIAL THING FOR A WONDERFUL KITTY IS TO BE ABLE TO ENJOY THE SECOND OPPORTUNITY SHE HAS BEEN GIVEN.
Defenseless and alone a tiny kitten is barely able to move on the frigid streets of Aurora, Oregon.
Last month, an animal welfare charity doing a TNR operation saved this adorable cat (trap, neuter, return). Rescuers discovered her alone and defenseless in the frigid streets.
“She was spotted trapping cats to spay and neuter them by a TNR rescuer. It was clear that the kitten needed to be examined further. She was in the arms of a Meow Village volunteer within hours after a few phone calls.
At Meow Village she received a raft of medical treatment to bring her back to full health, but one condition stood out above all else.

Her cleft pallet was the first the rescue center staff noticed, though she also lacked the energy to move properly, being so emaciated. She was noticeably very wobbly on her feet.
Thankfully for Penelope, she well and truly landed on her paws, because Meow Village is dedicated to providing kittens and cats with a better life of their condition or diagnosis, so she received all the love, care, and attention she required.
First, she received a bath to get rid of the pesky fleas, then she was fed and got a warm bed.
“This kitty has a kind and lovely personality. He eats and drinks well, and he quickly learned how to use the litter box,” said a staff member.
Next on the to-do list was a trip to a vet where she was The sweet kitten needed to visit a professional, so she was sent to a veterinary clinic the next day, where she was diagnosed with hydrocephalus (excess fluid in the brain), blindness, and ataxia (lack of coordination or balance).
Not the best news, but Penelope was lucky to have the support of people who were willing to go the extra mile to give her the best quality of life.
Because of her condition, she will need to be monitored closely for the rest of her life, needing specialist care and a loving female who will embrace her for her uniqueness.
Penelope though, was not the least bit concerned at the bad news, embracing life and being the playful kitten she was always meant to be.
Desirae, a staff member, couldn’t resist Penelope’s charms and chose to adopt her during her stay at the veterinary clinic.
“I couldn’t take my mind off her and the bad luck she’d had in life.” She has a kind, caring, and lively personality. “I realized I had to assist her, so I offered to take her in as a hospice adoption (plus I’d have 24-hour veterinary care),” Desirae explained.
In her new home, Penelope showed a passion for toys, and above all food. Though she also lapped up all the hugs and attention she could get.
“Don’t let her diminutive stature fool you; she has a voracious appetite.” “She tells you how hungry she is as soon as she smells food and won’t stop eating until the plate is clear,” Meow Village explained.
“Her personality is fantastic.” Even though she is little, she enjoys running as quickly as lightning and chasing her brothers and sisters. She enjoys playing with all of her toys and climbing on the sofa’s back cushions to jump like Superman.”
“Despite her physical issues, she is a happy and typical kitty.”
