Shelter Cat Licks Window To Get Adopters’ Attention And Find Forever Home

Take a look at this weird cutie! This cat’s name is Sigmund and he’s 3 years old. Sigmund is from Cat Haven (Western Australia) where he was already adopted once. However, the kitty was a bit too rough, so his owners returned him to the shelter. After months in the shelter, no one really paid attention to Sigmund. People came and go with many cats, but Sigmund was constantly overlooked. That’s when the cat decided a new tactic to find a new forever home and it worked!

Whenever people came in the shelter to adopt cats, Sigmund would start licking the window. The silly plan worked! People started paying more attention to Sigmund – they took pictures of the act and posted it online. To the surprise of the shelter staff, the first photo went viral, getting nearly 2 million views and thousands of potential adopters for Sigmund.

The shelter then started posting pictures of their celebrity cat. “If you like an oddball, Sigmund is up for adoption now,” read one of their posts.

After the viral photos of Sigmund, Cat Haven started receiving hundreds of applications for the cute cat. Eventually, the cat was adopted and finally left the shelter forever. Now, Sigmund is enjoying his new home and is getting quite the celebrity status.

Sigmund’s new owners are absolutely in love with him and often post his shenanigans online. The Cat Haven shares these updates on their Facebook page.

“He’s quite nervy and likes to watch outside through the windows. He plays a lot with our son and licks the walls at home in his free time. He’s energetic and curious – there’s no way of keeping Sigmund out of your cupboards,” says the cat’s owner.

The lucky owners say that Sigmund works on his high jump all day long and he absolutely loves playing with toys. They are lucky to have Sigmund and we’re sure to weird cat is lucky in his new home.
