Cheech the dog was rescued from strolling solo around the streets of Texas, taken to a big shelter and eventually moved into the newly founded City of Waller Animal Rescue shelter. Some of the staff members thought the tiny pooch could be intimidated and therefore, unwilling to let anyone close to him. But, surprise, surprise! Little Cheech actually showed the biggest smile to his rescuers, and they were all in awe!

“I went into the kennel to check him out and yelled for the other volunteers to come look,” Leah Sipe, director of the City of Waller Animal Shelter and Rescue shared. “They thought I was insane and that he was snarling, when I stuck my hand in the cage I thought they were going to pass out. He’s as friendly as can be!”

A picture of Cheech was posted on Facebook as a way to help him find a forever home and boy, did it work! Thousands of applications came in but ultimately, a woman who had recently lost one of her dogs to cancer and needed a new companion for her other dog, Dusty, was the winner of the puppy with the smile!
