People are upset over sign KFC store posted on their doors – Restaurant refuses to take it down

Over the last few years, Law enforcement officers had had hard times, and things are only getting harder. Many Officers have been singled out and attacked as well as some people assuming that all cops are bad cops, or corrupt in some way.

Well, one restaurant decided they would make a difference, a place over at Gallipolis, Ohio decided to show the men and women in uniform that they are valued and appreciated. The sign in the window is really causing a stir!!


The sign clearly says:

“All uniformed police officers eat free everyday.”

To absolutely prove to all the men and women in uniform that they have the city’s wholehearted appreciation for their work everyday, each time they put their own well being on the line to keep us all safe.

A delicious hot meal is no better way to fuel up before, during, or after a hard day and maybe even keep the streets even safer, how wonderful!

Ever since the sign has been pinned in the KFC window, things have gone crazy, it’s gone completely viral getting well over 5,000 shares and 10,000 likes on Facebook.

The store’s employees have even been joining in and commenting on the Facebook post, they absolutely do server all the uniformed police officers, completely FREE all day, every day!

You might expect the most people will be supportive and super happy about it, especially the men and women of the police force, but, there are also plenty of people that are not happy at all!

Some people really didn’t like what the store owners had done and said that they believed that all first response services should be included, not just the police, even the administer of the Ohio Going Blue, an officer of the law, too said he couldn’t agree more.

He said:

This is a positive post, but some of you can’t see the bigger picture.
As an officer, I do not go into any establishment expecting [or] wanting anything to be free or…. even a discount, whether I’m in uniform or not, and I can tell you other officers feel the same way. We don’t like ‘special treatment.’ The fact is that KFC is acknowledging law enforcement, which is why this was posted. To those who stated that other first responders should also be acknowledged. My answer? ABSOLUTELY.”

The fine officers of the law lay their well being on the line for us every day, and do their very best to keep us safe but have nothing in return, so to give them a free meal and keep them fueled up for their long day is reasonable….

At first, peel the potatoes and preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220°C). Now, in order to make your Hasselback potatoes perfect, you can place them between 2 chopsticks to help with stability and knife guidance. Then cut the potatoes thinly, crosswise slices approximately three-quarters down into the potato, but not all the way through to the bottom.

Next, brush both potatoes with olive oil and place them on a baking dish. Season them with salt and pepper. Bake them for about 30 minutes, until they become soft.

Girl abducted by her father aged 6 finds her way back to her mom 14 years later

Jacqueline Hernandez was abducted by her father, Pablo Hernandez, back in 2007. The girl hasn’t seen her mom up until this September when she finally succeeded in tracking her down.

Angelica Vences-Salgado was praying to God to bring her her daughter back, and after 14 long years, that wish of her was granted.

At the beginning, Angelica wasn’t sure if the girl who contacted her was really her daughter. The call came out of the blue. The young lady at the other side of the phone introduced herself as Jacqueline Hernandez and asked from Angelica to meet her at the Point of Entry at the border in Texas on September 10, as reported by The Clermont Police Department Detective Division.

According to a missing person report filled in by Angelica, Pablo kidnapped Jacqueline in 2007 after which a felony warrant for kidnapping was issued for him. Angelica also told the police back then how she suspected her daughter was taken to Mexico.

“[Officials] determined that the female was indeed Jacqueline Hernandez who was abducted from her mother in 2007. At approximately 4:55 p.m., Jacqueline, now 19 years old, was successfully reunited with her mother,” a news release by The Clermont Police Department said.

Both the mother and the daughter are over the moon to be reunited. They both said being apart for that long was very hard.

The Police Department said they are happy the family finally got a closure and added that the warrant for the girl’s father is still active.

“This is a prime example of what can be accomplished when multiple law enforcement agencies and their respective communities work cooperatively together and maintain open lines of communication.

“In this case, several agencies in different counties and states across the nation were able to create a force multiplier and aid in reuniting the victim with her mother after 14 years,” Clermont police Chief Charles Broadway said in a statement.

Firefighter responds to an emergency call just to find out his daughter died in the crash

Tragedies happen every single day. The thing is that most times, there is nothing we could do to prevent them, we just accept the devastating reality that someone we loved to the core is gone forever.

One father named Adrian Smith learned that his daughter passed away in the worst way possible.

Working as a firefighter, Adrian responded to a call about a crash of three vehicles which occurred in Haverfordwest, in Pembrokeshire, Wales. He and his crew rushed to the scene in an attempt to help the injured passengers. Unfortunately, that’s when Adrian learned his 21-year-old daughter Ella Brooke Smith, 21, died on impact. The rest of the people involved in the accident were left with injuries.

Realizing it was his daughter who lost her life that day broke this father’s heart into a million pieces. His little girl was no longer there, she was gone forever, and he was left to fight with the grief and the void which filled his soul.

 

 

Honoring her life, Adrian posted a photo of him and Ella dancing at a family gathering. The devastated father wrote: “We are utterly devastated at losing our beloved Ella. She was a much loved and caring daughter, sister and granddaughter.

“She was a beautiful girl who will be missed by us all. We would like to thank everyone for their support at this horrific time. It has meant so much to the whole family as we grieve for our Ella.”

Friends and family posted messages expressing their condolences for the loss of the girl whose young life was taken far too soon.

“You cannot imagine how Adrian must be feeling. It is every emergency worker’s worst nightmare to find your own child is a victim. They are such a lovely family. Ella was so bubbly with all her future ahead of here,” one of their friends wrote.

Man saves 7-year-old girl found wandering alone in the snow wearing just a onesie

One man’s action during a cold winter day warmed the hearts of the citizens of Englewood, Chicago.

Tony’s story is quite extraordinary. Namely, as he and his 5-year-old daughter were driving, they spotted a 7-year-old girl wearing a onesie and carrying a laptop. Despite the extremely low temperatures and the freezing weather, the girl wasn’t wearing any shoes. It was Tony’s daughter who first noticed the girl. When she said “Daddy look at the little girl,” Tony couldn’t believe his eyes.

He couldn’t stop wondering what a girl that young was doing outside all by herself. He immediately stopped the car and rushed to the girl. Her feet were ice cold and it was obvious she was out for a longer period of time.

“She was just wearing a onesie, her feet were very cold, with a laptop in her hand,” Tony said. “I took my coat off, picked her up and called 911.”

While he was waiting for the police to arrive, he started a live video on Facebook asking if anyone knew who the girl might be.

He later said that the girl told him how she left the house alone and didn’t want to get back to her mom and dad, as reported by ABC7 Chicago.

“When I put her in the car, it brought tears to my eyes,” Tony said. “She just looked at me and said, ‘Mr. Sir, I love you.’ And I said, ‘I love you too.’”

Once media outlets picked the story up, the community hailed Tony a hero. “We want to acknowledge, salute and honor you for being an angel and a hero, not only in Englewood. You saved a baby’s life,” 16th Ward Alderman Stephanie Coleman said, as reported by ABC 7 Chicago.

“No one saw her walking? I don’t understand that,” Tony said. “When I was grabbing her foot, it’s not like she was outside for five minutes. Her feet were, I mean, like icicles. She was just crying and crying and crying.”

As for now, the young girl has been placed with members of the extended family and she won’t be returning to her mom and dad until the investigation is over.

Kind Man Built Tiny Home On Wheels For Sweet Homeless Woman Who Was Sleeping On Sidewalk

When a kind man learned that a local homeless woman was sleeping on hard concrete; no boxes, no tent, he went to his local hardware store and built her a tiny house on wheels himself.

Elvis Summers has an apartment in Los Angeles, and most mornings he is greeted by a friendly 60-year-old homeless woman named Smokie who asks him if he has any extra recyclables. After several encounters, the two began having regular conversations and became friends.

Elvis asked Smokie about where she was staying, and she would humbly just say that she was “living down the street.”

“I know you told me you lived down the street, but I mean where exactly do you sleep?” Elvis asked.

To his surprise, Smokie shared that she just slept next to a building a few blocks away, no tarp, no tent or boxes, just on the hard concrete.

“I figured she at the very least had a cardboard box, a tarp, or something, but she had none of that,” Elvis said. “She was like, ‘Well, I don’t have anything [so] I just sleep next to the building.’ “

“I asked, ‘Is there an awning or anything?’ She was like, ‘There’s a chair.’ “

Elvis learned that Smokie had been married previously, but her husband passed, and she ended up losing her house.

“I still am choked up over it,” Elvis said. “She was married for a long time and had a house and her husband died. She lost her husband and then she lost her house and that’s how she ended up on the street.”

Feeling a deep sense of compassion for this sweet homeless woman, Elvis decided that he was going to do what he could to help her. He skipped some of his own meals and bills in order to budget and buy the materials needed to build Smokie a tiny house: one where she could sleep in comfort.

“That got me. I just jumped in the car and went to Home Depot. I was like, ‘Screw it.’ I mean I skipped on buying a little bit of food – a lot of bit of food – skipped on a couple of bills and just made it happen.”

Elvis had read an article about a man in Oakland who had been making tiny houses out of discarded material, so he thought he’d give it a try. He Budgeted around $500 to get the materials, which included a front door, two locks, a window and sturdy wheels to go under the house. The roof shingles and siding were out of his budget, but a kind manager named Rick from Allied Building kindly donated them for Smokie after Elvis shared with him what he was using them for. It took five days to build, and Elvis created a time-lapse video of the construction.

 

“I had nowhere to really build it, so I just built it in the street outside of my apartment. The local LAPD cops have been super cool, and have told me they support it, as long as we move it to a different spot every 72 hours.”

The finished product is beautiful, and Smokie shared that sleeping in it has given her a sense of peace and relaxation that she hasn’t felt in a very long time.

“I felt so good,” Smokie said of her first time in her new home. “I was so relaxed. I think I must’ve slept half of the day.”

Elvis even included a little sign for the front door which reads, “Home SWEET Home.”

After seeing Smokie’s happiness from having a comfortable and safe place to sleep, many kind hearts reached out to Elvis and told him that they wanted to help support his cause, so he created a nonprofit named The Tiny House Project.

“I’ve met so many homeless people, good people,” Elvis said. “Since I built Smokie’s, I’ve had several people ask me to make them a tiny home and it’s turned into much more than just the one house.”

She went on to explain that her little boy hasn’t stopped asking why people don’t like his hair and, even more heartbreakingly, if he could change his hair so people would like it.

Lauren continued: “I can feel my heart breaking every time he asks me. My little boy looks so sad and I want to make it better. The reason I am trying to go public with this is because I know these cruel bullies are in the minority.

“I want to show my little boy that there is more good in this world than bad. There are kind and caring non judgemental people who won’t ever single him out.

  • 4 medium-sized carrots, chopped
  • 2-1/2 pounds bone-in chicken thighs
  • 10 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1-1/4 tsp. pepper, divided
  • 1 tbsp. canola oil
  • 1 tsp. minced fresh thyme or 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 4 celery ribs, chopped

Preparation:

At first, you should pat dry your chicken using paper towels. Then, season it with 1/2 teaspoon of pepper and salt. Now, in a large pot over medium heat, heat the oil. Cook your chicken with the skin down for about 3-4 minutes. Remove it from the pot, and take a couple of tablespoons from the dripping for later.

Six-grader risks his life protecting younger siblings from a vicious dog attack

What one young boy did for his siblings melted thousands of hearts. Now the entire community considers him a hero, but he says that he only did what anyone else would if found in his situation.

Deacon Ashmore, a six-grader, was out with his two little sisters, his brother, and some of their friends when two dogs started running towards them. The creatures started barking angrily and attacked the little ones. It was then when Deacon decided to fight the dogs with his bare hands. He told the kids to run to safety as he continued struggling to defeat the dogs who at that point started biting him.

Although he got scared himself, he cared more for his siblings’ well-being than his own. Sadly, one of the dogs sank its teeth into Deacon’s leg and tore through his muscle. There was blood everywhere, but Deacon didn’t stop trying to release himself. Luckily, shortly after, the dogs ran away.

His father, Peter, told Detroit Press that Deacon was rushed into the hospital after the accident where he was given medical help. Doctors needed to fix his tendons, ligaments, and muscles. Even during his surgery, Deacon didn’t stop asking if his little brother was okay.

Deacon was adopted from Ethiopia when he was very young, but he loves his family to the moon and back. He never felt like he was not his parents’ biological son.

Speaking of her son’s bravery, mom Elizabeth said: “For him, it wasn’t a second thought, that’s the kind of big brother he is.”

Although the surgery went well, Deacon’s path to full recovery would be long, and that means huge medical expenses. That is why a member of their church, Clete Bontrager, set up a GoFundMe to help the family.

“Many of you know Deacon Ashmore as a great young man! Deacon proved that Monday evening. His leg was mauled by a dog while playing outside with his siblings. Deacon stepped between the two dogs and his siblings so they could run to the house, but in doing so had his leg badly mangled,” the page said.
