Owners Adopt One Cat And Name Her Duchess, Never Expect To End Up With The Entire Cast Of “The Aristocats”

Hey, say that life is full of surprises, and you will never know what is going to hit you. Well, if I were Shelby Sewell-Lopez, I would be more than happy to receive the little “surprises” that life threw at her. She is literally living any Disney fan’s dream right now: getting to live with the Duchess and her kittens.

If you grew up with Walt Disney, you would be too familiar with the cartoon “The Aristocats”. Shelby and her partner decided to adopt this white cat from a local shelter but ended up with four more kittens. What more mindblowing was they looked exactly like the kittens from the classic cartoon, well plus 1 of course. This incident must be the best of both worlds: the real world and the Disney magical world.

Meet Duchess, the pretty white cutie that has been an internet sensation

Shelby shared that when they adopted Duchess, she was quite sick. She was suffering from a hernia and there were countless parasites on her skin. “Through all of the rehabilitating, she kept her calm demeanor, and a beautiful cat emerged. She is unbothered by everything except the vacuum cleaner!”, she told Bored Panda in an interview.

They thought that Duchess was sprayed, but she was actually pregnant

One day, Shelby and her partner found Duchess in a closet. They were not sure what was going on until they saw a little kitten, which they initially thought was a mouse, lying next to her. To their surprise, she was in labor and was in the middle of delivering 3 more furbabies.

Shelby noticed that three out of four kittens look exactly like characters from The Aristocats, even their gender were matched

They decided to name them retrospectively – Marie, Toulouse, and Berlioz. But it did not stop there, they had a little bonus white baby named Blue. “Although Blue is not an official Aristocat, he is the most affectionate and definitely steals most of the attention,” said Shelby. Duchess is an absolutely incredible mother who never let her kittens out of her sight. She even accompanies them when they get a bit older and start wandering around the house.
