Man Comes Home From Work To Find A Wasp Carrying Off A Giant Spider

If you’re like me, I can’t even look at pictures of spiders. It literally makes my skin crawl. Well one Reddit user came home to the ultimate feast about to happen. In Australia, a man came home to see this orange tarantula hawk wasp carrying off a paralyzed huntsman spider back to its nest.

The image was uploaded to Reddit and has already been shared 37,000 times as well as receiving over 4,000 comments.

The wasp is called a tarantula hawk wasp. They immobilize their spider prey with a sting and then carry it back to their nest. The tarantula wasp is said to have the most painful sting in the world with the second most painful sting being the bullet ant.
And the internet had a lot to say about it:

Even though the sting of the tarantula hawk is the most painful in the world, the sting will only last for about five minutes. The sting is said to be so intense that genuine medical advice if you ever get stung is to lie down and scream.

Back to more interesting information about the wasp – after paralyzing the huntsman spider, the female wasp would then use the spider’s body as a living host to lay eggs. When the egg hatches, the larva eats the arachnid from the inside out.

Time to get off the internet for the day.
