Having endured years of hardship, this was the last straw, yet somehow he hobbled across the road and collapsed on the grass!

“Buddy was spotted lying near a busy roadway by one of our fosters. She pulled over to see if he was okay but when she approached him he began hobbling across the busy street somehow making it safely to the neutral ground before collapsing in the grass,” said tomato foster club.

“She grabbed some food from her trunk and followed him. When she opened the can he slowly and cautiously made his way to her. With some patience and the help of another foster, they were able to safely secure him,” the representative went on to say.”

“We weren’t entirely sure we would ever introduce Buddy because we were pretty certain humane euthanasia was going to be his kindest option based on our initial assessment, however Buddy has shown that he’s not the saddest old feral kitty that ever did live.”

“He is actually a very sweet guy who has just endured years of hardships outdoors. His body is covered in scars and matted fur, he has deformed ears from years of mite infestations, patches of fur missing, fresh wounds on his back and front leg and is FIV positive,” the rescue said.

“Despite all of this, the vet agreed that this rough-looking guy still has life left to live so we’d like to give him a chance. In order for us to do so, we first need a foster home that can show him the kindness that he’s been missing all these years.”

Thankfully a foster home was quickly found which meant the rescue based in New Orleans, Louisiana, could now focus on the battered boy’s medical needs. First of all getting fixed, and then a mountain of dental work that will need to be done.

Despite his rough start to life and his near-life-ending moment the news just kept getting better For Buddy.

Someone fell in love with the boy and was prepared to fly from Boston to take him home for a mini-home trial.

“Needless to say his new mama completely fell in love with him, though he still has some healing to do before he can undergo surgery, he’s been cleared by the vet to fly back home with his mama to do so! We are so overjoyed for Buddy,” the rescue went on to say.

Soon Buddy found himself back in Boston in his loving forever home where he is still healing before he is well enough to undergo surgery.

“It is so crazy thinking back to the moment we found him. So few kitties get the chance Buddy did.”

“It’s amazing to see how happy this darling boy is to be loved.”

In a little over three weeks this battered street cat has gone from fighting a losing battle to survive on the streets to living the life of his dreams, a life he thoroughly deserves.

He still has some healing to do, but the most important thing is he is loved.
