Couple Builds Little Train To Walk With Their Rescued Dogs (Video)

Little train of joy?! Yes! And he passes with his passengers, who are beautiful dogs, every Friday night, just before sunset, on the streets of Lehigh Acres, Florida, in the United States.

Paul drives the little train and his wife stays behind to supervise the ride.

You can hear the chorus of joy in the distance, as the dogs bark with delight wherever they go with the vehicle that Alice Johnston and her husband, Paul, built for the ride.

The couple moved to the city eight years ago after years working at an animal rescue shelter in Costa Rica, but they didn’t move alone, they took their dogs they rescued from the streets with them.

And to make the days more fun in the new city, they built a little train to carry all the furry ones on a fun ride.

“We have so many dogs, of course we couldn’t walk them all or put them in the car to take them for a walk,” Alice Johnston told The Dodo. “So my husband built a train so we could take them around the community. He pulls the train with a lawn mower, and I ride a scooter behind him to keep an eye on things, to make sure they’re safe.”

The vehicle was named Wonderland Express and was inspired by the creation of another American, who also made a train to walk his dogs in Texas.

“The dogs are so excited. They just love it. They absolutely love it,” Johnston said. “They know it’s Friday better than we do. It’s amazing how they know.”

The day of the tour is awaited by the dogs, but also by the residents of the region who are anxiously waiting for the train to pet the puppies and give them snacks.

In addition to the little train bringing joy to the city, it also encourages the adoption of animals, as Paul makes a point of emphasizing that adopting is all good, pasting posters around the train.

“My husband has posters all over the train encouraging people to adopt, not shop,” Johnston said. “There are many homeless dogs, and they are wonderful pets. Anything we can do to encourage people to give these dogs a chance, we are happy to do so.”
